Just copying what I sent out to the famliy-----

The procedure went fine.  What we know at the moment:

he was able to get into the small intestine, not very far, but enough to see
that there was definite inflammation & edematous tissue.  He took several
biopsies from that area to send off.

Overall, the colon looked great.  There was one minute ulceration that he
also biopsied.  It's not something that should be causing any problems in
itself, but might be related to the overall problem.

He also took some biopsies from the rectum which he says they generally do
with inflammatory bowel disease.

So, we do know a bit more than we did this morning.  On the down side,  we
know that within the past year both ends of the small intestine have been
inflamed - we'll see if this biopsy is any more specific than last years from
the upper end.  On the up side, the colon looks good.  Biopsy results in
about a week and we'll see where to go from there.  If & how this ties in
with my protein absorption issue when I was on Enbrel is yet to be
determined.

The appointments I have with my rheumatologist and, the next day, for a
physical in 2 weeks should be interesting.

Hmmm, no thanks.  Sounds like yours look too messy.  Here's hope that the
biopsies all turn out to be minor stuff.  Heck, here are a bunch of prayers
that they are.  Enjoy the family reunion.  I'm not sure when or if we will
have another one.  Mom had one when she was 90 last year and she'd like one
if she makes 100.  God bless Nann.

The reunion officially starts Saturday, though some of the out-of-town
travelers will be gathering Friday.  Most of them are Mother's generation, so
hopefully they won't wear me out too much!  lol

All three of us "kids" are going, partly out of interest, but also because
thisis something Mother really wants to do and we need to enjoy time with her
while we can!

I'm hoping some eating strategies (small, more frequent meals & low residue
foods) will ward off any episodes while I'm gone.  Maybe the fear of
triggerin something will help me take off a few pounds!

well, so far the news sounds encouraging.  sounds like a lot of biopsies
though.  does that make you sorer inside?  i sure hope it doesn't.  here's
hoping something simple from the biopsies gives him a clue on how to treat
this stuff for you.  you've been enduring this stuff for tooo long.  be sure
and let us know about the results, sweetie.  in the meantime, kick back and
rest, rest, rest.

nope, didn't leave me sore at all.  I suppose those kinds of nerves aren't
found in those areas.  Of course, I was pretty snowed for a few hours from
the meds anyway - though not too snowed to snarf down a mushroom-swiss burger
& onion rings at a local eatery!  Boy was I hungry! I just want more
definitive answers this time - though now that the consequences have become
more serious, there seems to be real determination to sort it all out.  (My
SIL hoped that they "get to the bottom of it", apparently not catching the
pun when she said it.  heehee)
